In this action-packed martial arts film set during the early 20th century, 'Mute' tells an engaging tale of love, loss, and redemption. The movie follows the story of a mute Chinese American named Set (played by Chow Yun-Fat), who travels to Shanghai after World War I in search of his missing fiancée.

Upon arrival, he discovers that she has been kidnapped by a group of dangerous gangsters known as 'The White Lotus.' Determined to rescue her and exact revenge on the culprits responsible for their separation, Set takes up work as an English-speaking taxi driver at a local club called The Grand Budapest.
